Billingham.......the entertainment capital of north-east England!!. Billingham is situated about 6 miles away from Middlesbrough...in the beautiful,exotic location of Teesside,England!!. The streets of Billingham are lined with palm trees,and the Sun shines 365 days a year!!. Used as a tax haven by many famous celebrities,visitors to the town often comment about how much Billingham reminds them of California!!. Billingham`s futuristic town centre!!.
Packed.......as usual!!. The town centre is the largest open-air shopping centre in Europe!. Used for scenes in `Back to the Future 2`,and `Blade Runner`,due to it`s futuristic look,it`s also home to some of the most exclusive shops in Britain!!. Yes,shops such as Woolworths,Superdrug,Morestore,and Asda...have transformed the town centre into Teesside`s very own Trafford Centre!!. Stockton Council`s annual Christmas lights budget for Billingham town centre,is around 2 million pounds. They were switched-on last xmas by Madonna! |

The World famous Forum Leisure Centre!. Cutting edge design.......30 years ago!!. Built by the Romans,the Forum has recently been bought by Disney!.They are planning to demolish it,and the surrounding area in 2005,to make way for their latest theme-park....DisneyWorld Billingham!!. Disney have also bought John Whitehead Park over the road,and work begins in 2006 to transform it into `Disney-Billingham-Studios`. This is contrary to popular belief,that a major supermarket chain are to build Europe`s largest Hypermarket,creating 5,000 jobs!!. |

The leaning tower of Billingham!. This is officially the roundest block of flats in Britain!.It`s also the highest in Europe too!!. Tickets for the viewing platform at the top,have to be bought well in advance due to demand!. On a clear day,you can see for over 30 miles.On a cloudy day....you can see the library!!. The building is famous for being the first skyscraper to be destroyed in the movie,`Independence Day`,where it was used for one scene!!. There is currently concern over the building`s future..due to it leaning at the rate of 2 feet a week!!. It really does lean...it`s not an illusion!!. |

Charlton`s Pond.....Billingham`s Loch Ness!!. Larger than Kielder Water,and deeper than Loch Ness...`Charlie`s Pond`,is the largest expanse of water in Europe!!. Recently purchased by Universal Studio`s,this is the future site of `Universal Studios Billingham`!!.With the bulldozers due to begin work next summer,completion is expected in 2006. `Universal Studios Billingham`,will be in direct competition with `DisneyWorld Billingham`. Charlton`s Pond is home to the largest Pike in existence!.Although thought to have died years ago..there are still sightings of it,usually by people on their way home from the pub!!. Depending on who you talk to..it`s size varies from the size of a large..err..Pike..to the size of a Great White Shark!!. |

Billingham Synthonia play at the largest football arena in Europe!.With a crowd capacity of 120,000 people,the Synthonia Ground is slightly larger than local rivals..Billingham Town`s,Bedford Terrace Stadium. Founded in 1747,Synthonia are only the second team,after Middlesbrough FC,to win the FA Cup,Worthington Cup,European Cup...and Zenith Data Systems Cup..all in the same season!!!. Since beating Bayern Munich,in the dying seconds of the 1999 Champions League Final,Synthonia have bought and sold many World-class players..namely,Eric Cantona..Raul..and Zinedine Zidane!. After recently selling Ruud Van Nistelrooy to Manchester United...Synthonia are to buy Luis Figo!!. |

The Stoney Oak Nightclub....Billingham`s very own Ministry of Sound!!. The `Stoney`,is the north`s premier nightclub!.Opened in the late 1960`s,many top stars have appeared there!. Big stars such as Tom Jones,Michael Jackson,Robbie Williams,and most recently..the Fast Food Rockers!!. Many clubs,such as Cream,Home,and Manumission,have all tried to copy the Stoney`s style,but none have ever been as successful!!.
